Unlike sidestream systems, this mainstream sensor attaches directly to the airway circuit, providing the fastest possible response time and crisp CO2 waveforms—essential for intubated patients in emergency and critical care settings.

Key Features of the Mainstream Sensor
Real-Time Waveform Accuracy Because the measurement happens at the airway (at the "source"), there is zero delay in gas sampling. This provides immediate feedback on the patient’s respiratory status, which is vital during CPR, intubation verification, and ventilator management.
Rugged and Reliable Design Built to withstand the vibrations of transport and the fast-paced environment of the ER. The sensor is solid-state, meaning it has no moving parts, making it significantly more durable than traditional mechanical sampling systems.
No Moisture Interference Mainstream technology eliminates the need for water traps and sampling lines. By using a heated sapphire window in the airway adapter, the sensor prevents condensation from interfering with the infrared signal, ensuring a clear reading in humid conditions.
Plug-and-Play for Zoll Systems The sensor features a direct-connect interface for Zoll monitors. There is no warm-up time required; simply snap the sensor onto a disposable airway adapter and connect it to the monitor to begin capturing EtCO2 data instantly.
